Swift Fine Foods win at Great Taste Awards

We received brilliant news this week with the announcement that our Roast Turkey and Ham meal and also our Bacon and Cabbage meal received a 1 star great taste award from the Guild of Fine Food.

Great Taste is simply about taste, not clever branding or smart packaging. Judges are presented with a spoonful of jam, a pie, a slice of salami, or a cup of espresso, with no wrappings, jars or marks – and they taste, confer and re-taste

Judged by over 400 of the most demanding palates belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, members of the Women’s Institute, producers and a host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers. In the words of highly regarded restaurant and food critic Charles Campion, “Great Taste is the only food award worth having”. When a product wears a Great Taste label it carries a badge of honour but more importantly, the Great Taste logo is a signpost to a wonderful tasting product.

We are delighted with this news and keep a look for our new sleeves that will soon be launched carrying the award.

Swift Fine Foods signs €1m deal with Tesco

Swift Fine Foods were featured in an article on the Business & Leadership website. The following is transcribed from the Business & Leadership website:

A Co Monaghan food company, Swift Fine Foods, is creating ten jobs thanks to a new €1m deal with Tesco.

First listed by Tesco Ireland in October 2012 under its Chef Cuisine branding, Swift Fine Foods now has 20 ready handmade meal products stocked in 100 Tesco stores across Ireland.

Swift Fine Foods was previously part of the 2012 Tesco/Bord Bia Supplier Development Programme and the ongoing link-up with Tesco supports a total of 100 jobs at the company based in Castleblaney.

Owner Robert McElwaine said:  “A big focus for us from the start has been ensuring that the quality credentials of our food were clear to potential customers.

“We knew we had a quality product that could fill a gap in the retail market.  We also knew that certain quality credentials had to be met.  Tesco has recognised the level of quality in our offering, and building on our selection to participate in the 2012 Tesco/Bord Bia Supplier Development Programme, our partnership with Tesco has strengthened from there.”
